Great! This was actually an issue I was thinking of opening myself. I've been considering for a while how to create an Instagram-like client for the Fediverse without having to create another account on Pixelfed.
I even built an Instagram-inspired interface on the custom frontend I created for my account.
For this feature in Catodon, here are the points that seem important to me:
- Like on double-tap on media – matches Instagram's core interaction pattern
- One media visible at a time in a carousel – keeps the focus clean and intentional, before the text.
- Make it a display parameter for a list or antenna – so you can choose which accounts are shown this way (not all my follows would be relevant for this view)
- (Bonus) In this view, redesign the post interface to focus on photo capture – make posting as photo-centric as possible
