Fell down.

Really, I wish I had a good story, or it happened in Walmart, or something, but I just fell down. And broke my arm. Nobody was more surprised than me. I got up, and said “What the fuck? I think I broke my arm!” And I was right.

I got permananned in the great post-inauguration bloodbath. Maybe I should try again.

They also succumbed to pressure from DOGE Musk right after the Inauguration, to permaban millions of active users, like me. I had a 12 year account, and a million karma. I’d been active since before anyone heard of Reddit. People like me built that site, and then we were kicked out because we were critical of MAGA.

Kicking out all your best customers, and keeping all the bots, spammers, foreign propaganda farmers, etc. is probably not going to have the most positive business outcome.

I shattered my humerus (upper arm bone) badly, and needed major surgery, so I was in bad pain for a while, exacerbated by the fact that I’m a big whiney baby.

I absolutely refused any opiates for pain, knowing I’d get hooked, so I stuck with massive does of Advil, which worked okay. When I was near the end, almost out of it, I discovered that doctors were often recommending a combo of 1 Tylenol and 2 Advil for pain, claiming that the pain-killing power approached the level of an opiate, without any chance of addiction. I tried it, and the result was AMAZING! It really worked well.

Also, the Advil is processed by the kidneys, and the Tylenol is processed by the liver, so none of your organs are overtaxed. It’s still not a good idea for those who are taking blood thinners.

I’ve also noticed that Advil now sells their own combo with acetaminophen.

I am definitely one of those people who follows the “only eat when you’re hungry, and only until you aren’t hungry” plan, and it’s helped me lose over 100 pounds, while literally eating anything I want (in moderation), so I’m a believer.

We tend to dismiss underweight as a high-class problem that can be easily solved with a sandwich, but your perspective is a reminder to not be flippant. I still think it is sound advice for MOST people, but you have definitely made me aware of exceptions, and to be sensitive about it.

You’re slender, so I doubt I’d be offering the advice to you anyway. Not that I’m going around pitching it to random fat folks I see on the street, that would be weird, and an entirely different problem.

I knew the guy that produced the Meatloaf album, signed a distribution deal with SONY, then spent 20 years suing them to get his money.

He finally won, SONY settled, and I saw him less than a week later. I asked him how much he got, of course, and he couldn’t tell me, but said that it was “More money than I ever thought I’d see in my lifetime.”

Then I asked him if it was worth it, and he said it was, but it was still a hard road: “I got divorced, went bankrupt twice, became an alcoholic a few times, and constantly wondered if it was all worth it, but I finally won.”

He seemed pleased at his win, but not celebratory. I think he was happier that it was finally over, and he had something substantial to show for it.

So he got his credits on the album, and a LOT of money, but within a couple of years, he was back to suing SONY, because they STILL weren’t sending him his royalties.

I once knew someone at SONY, and I tapped him for a contact for a friend I knew with a great band, and he said “If this guy is truly your friend, don’t let him sign with SONY. We’ve got two floors of lawyers whose entire job is to fuck people over.”

Back in the early 2000s, I had a pretty good eBay biz started, but I had to quit it because between eBay and PayPal, I couldn’t get any traction. They were constantly suspending my account for a few days, or a week, or a month. I wasn’t doing anything wrong, and I could never get a straight answer on why, because EVERYTHING was automated, with canned email answers to every question, that didn’t explain anything.

Near as I could tell, a competitor must have been complaining that my listings were counterfeit or bootleg or something, which wasn’t the case. I could be wrong, I really have no idea why they were targeting me.

There is also a LOT of buyer fraud, and eBay offered NO protection for sellers. We lost EVERY dispute, so fraudsters were rampant. There were certain countries I refused to ship to, because every shipment was disputed, and their money would be refunded, and I was out the item, which were all unique, collectible, one-of-a-kind, expensive items.

I was also reading a lot of stuff about people having their money accounts confiscated by eBay, or locked up for months. I didn’t keep much money there, I always swept it out whenever possible, but I knew it was a matter of time before they stole my actual money, too.

On three different occasions they completely deleted my entire shop, with virtually no explanation, and I had to relist everything from scratch. The last time they did it, I just quit. I had already started another biz, because I couldn’t count on eBay, so I just concentrated on that, and I’m still doing it, 18 years later.

I won’t do biz with eBay or PayPal.

You need to learn the difference between history and propaganda.

We’re already seeing. So far, each earning call has been a disaster, and things have only gotten worse. Sales are down world-wide, and the Chinese have taken over the EV world, with cars that are better and cheaper.

Tesla hasn’t had a single piece of good news since his Salute, and lots of bad news. Barring a change in upper management, they won’t be turning around.

But you? You should definitely buy more stock. Lots more.

Everything has to do with politics right now, including ANYTHING to do with AI, and you obviously lack the intellectual foundation to understand that.

It’s parody right now, but as you read the article, it begins to make perfect sense that AI is far better suited to replace the responsibilities of a CEO, than the varied responsibilities of the workers, especially when the economics are taken into account. You can save millions by getting rid of workers, but there’s a lot of work involved in replacing all those jobs. Or you can save millions by getting rid of a single CEo, and you only have to replace one job.

At some point, somebody is going to offer this service for real, and companies are going to use it.

After getting a degree in unemployment, my son has gone back to college to get a degree that might lead to a job that doesn’t require a name tag, and he’s doing an amazing job. I can honestly say that I’ve never seen any college student so committed to getting the most out of every class he takes. I’m super proud of him.

He’s extremely intelligent, and an excellent writer, and one of the things that worries him is that professors will think he’s using AI. I’ve told him that profs won’t expect that from him, because he participates in class a lot, so they already recognize that he knows the material, especially when his parents excellent test scores are added in. None of that used AI, so when he turns in a writing assignment that’s of equal caliber, it won’t stand out as unusual, that’s just the level he normally operates at. They know he doesn’t need AI.

I keep reminding him that it’s the dolt who suddenly writes a coherent essay that looks suspicious.

Some people are too smart to fall for it, and dumb people know they’re dumb, so they don’t try, because they know they’ll get caught.

You need those special ones who are too dumb to actually learn, but still think they are smart enough to outsmart a system that is beyond the comprehension of their puny minds. In other words, MAGAs.
