Jfc, first they had like some coin miner, then dubious analytics or settings or something, now the head dude is a bigot? It’s like an as-seen-on-TV ad: “but wait, there’s more!”

Vault is visible and therefore obvious. If you need to be discreet, this sounds useful.
Tbh, for me there’s just a couple of ‘creators’ I watch that do it for their careers, and they didn’t start that way; the rest (50 or so subs) still do it ‘right’, even years later. YouTube started as a platform where everyone can create and share, and people who saw an opportunity for money helped turn it into the shit that it is today. When you (them) have multiple sponsorships per video, the production quality matching broadcast television, prominently show off your new car, house, jet… You (them) are the problem.
This needs a reset back to goofy video game machinimas, cyber police, hiiii my name is boxxy, arby n the chief; when people who hit record didn’t want money. They were there to share with others.

Really interesting watch, thanks :)
As someone who bought a Supermicro board 6 weeks ago and was super happy to learn about IPMI: oh no.
I flashed the latest bmc firmware and bios the day I got it running (also fuck paywalling the bmc UI for bios updates), but… 😬
E: holy shit it truncates passwords to 19 characters. One of my weakest passwords, in the bottom 10 of like 450 passwords.
E2: I can’t disable KCS, I can’t disable the IPMI (short of unplugging the ethernet cable), I can’t disable the default user or limit the privileges, so I had delete my user, login as the default, then change the username and password to my user creds. Like, wow.

Back when FedEx employees were swiping pixel phones from customer packages so often that it was reported weekly+ on reddit (2016-2021 or so), when I would order a new device, I’d request signature on delivery, and film receiving the package (+ my doorbell cam for a different perspective) all the way until I had the phone out of the packaging and in my hand.
Concerns of it occurring were so rampant that it sparked my migration away from Google services, so that if it happened to me and I got pushback from the abysmal cs, a chargeback and eventual account suspension wouldn’t harm me beyond the inconvenience of filing the chargeback.
