Making this 3 projects instead of 1 is both a good way to eliminate scope creep and a bad way to commit to maintaining the project past its initial push. If it survives past the first few months then I’ll give it a shot but far too many of these die a still birth so to speak.

As much as I think this behaviour is fucked up, once they buy the books it’s legally property of the company. And it can be destroyed without consequence since it’s legally property of the company.
