Just ordered a Pixel phone today. Between this and mandatory Gemini AI, I’m leaving Android.

And they probably pay the employees the absolute minimum and they tell their friends where your good stuff is.

If he can get senate action on AI then why can’t he get senate action on all the other plethora of crap happening to us right now?

I think overall his views are good but he’s an old guy and does not understand tech that well.

The last thing AI bros want is limitations, that brings in way less money from investors.

Yeah that, but with natural language input and output. To me the (mostly) natural language is the most impressive part of generative AI.

My attitude is if you put no effort into creating something then I will put no effort into consuming it.

I would say a lot of people would like competent assistants to do stuff like “Show me every email that mentions a hard drive order.” But not the AI they are trying to foist on us now.

Well that’s not good. I use it to set alarms fairly often, and up until recently it used to work for navigation. I think me refusing the AI crap made “navigate to 123 main st” quit working.

I think they are making their vehicles much more computerized and much more software-driven, and at the same time supplying their technicians with tools to deal with that, but not customers. And they are constantly flirting with ideas for subscriptions and advertising and tracking. So maybe not all that to purposely make them less repairable, but it’s more of an ecosystem that they control and the end user doesn’t.

So-so, I’m trying to evaluate Proton before fully leaving Google. Google Maps will be tough to leave, and stuff like Android Auto is nice.

No our federal government will spend billions to bail out whatever AI companies are favored by trump this week.

Hopefully this will benefit other countries indirectly, instead of designing one repairable phone and one not repairable, should be easier to just design one.

They are thinking about possibly starting to do something about it.

I wonder if the people/businesses that set up the internet connectivity are even around any more.

Been using Duckduckgo, it’s ok. Like the early days of Google.

Now I just have to finish de-Googling email and file storage.

The quiet boring times are often the best ones. Fill those times doing something you enjoy.

Mine has already doubled from 2 years ago, with the same amount of usage.

And the local boards and councilors are ignorant, money hungry, and prone to slick sales presentations.

I stopped shopping at Amazon last year due to all their bullshit. But twice now I’ve bought from other retailers, Zappos and eBay, and the products were still delivered by Amazon. Actually it’s happened several times from eBay.
