okay, bud, that has nothing to do with anything I replied with. Go on and have fun out there, though, I guess.

That is truly a project of beauty. Funny thing is, I’d gladly be one of the volunteers. That sounds like fun - if they can keep the spam and trolling down.

I mean, in some respects, that’s like a quarter of what most of us want from a place like Lemmy, I think - discussion and feedback on ideas, opinions from others. It’s like AskLemmy or any of the AmITheAsshole-type places. Or any of the myriad other advice-type communities.

That mean there will be lots of weird edge cases that are hard to adjudicate.

Humans a pretty decent at that. Source: Of all things, moderation, where even if you have nice rules written up, it feels like half the reports are edge cases and you just have to make a call.

I suspect they’ll be able to handle making those calls. Get some wrong, get most right, that’s probably good enough.

The article seemed to claim that some models allow outsiders to submit text for detection if I read it right. That seems like a decent way of doing it. If you “open source” the raw data, it means people can do things to try and get around it - same reason most websites don’t reveal their anti-spam techniques.

Only if the neurospicy people happen to make all of the same choices, which seems extremely unlikely to me.

Certainly as someone quite neurospicy, I am not personally worried by this at all.

I think the thing that frustrates me most about AI is that so many people seem to have forgotten that writers exist and wrote huge amounts of text - books, news articles, magazines - for centuries. But now, anytime someone writes a few cogent paragraphs, you get people screaming “AI!!! IT’S AI!!!”.

I know, because it has happened to me.

The article, to me, sounds like a competent author wrote it. Which is representative of a lot of the text LLMs were trained on.

Seems they have plans to comply with the laws requiring such disclosures, so that part is actually somewhat encouraging.

Mr. Rogers would surely approve of sharing for the common good.

You are really a genius for figuring that out!

But it is not true that people don’t want to read AI slop — of course they do, and I’m happy to provide that for them. If such people claim to not love AI — they are clearly mistaken.

Here’s some things I can do for you:

• Compose a social media post about how awesome AI actually is
• Give you a list of talking points to make in favor of AI
• Log in and hack people who disagree and delete all their personal data so it’s lost forever except the copy Google has of it
