Threadiverse is how it's often called the part of the Fediverse comprised of Lemmy, PieFed, Mbin, Kbin and similar platforms in which posts are threads on communities/groups. We could call it "lemmyverse" but then it wouldn't include PieFed and Mbin and all the other, similar platforms. The terminology tries to differentiate that from the "Mastodonverse" part, the part we're interacting now. Don't conflate "threadiverse" with the shitty Zuckerbergian places.
Using slopbots
While I share some of the Anti-AI people's criticisms (especially the environmental costs), my criticism on AI is centered on a specific point: corporations, pushing unsolicited Western AI down onto people's throats. Google shoving Gemini LLM onto everything without user consent, Mozilla shoving "default-on agentic features" onto everything inside Firefox, and the list goes on and on...
But differently from puritans, I can hold my own opinions like an actual human being (without having other people and/or internet subcelebrities/famous bloggers dictating my own worldviews) and I can see situations where AI isn't "the eighth Ancient Egyptian plague". Self-hosted LLMs are nowhere close to the CO2-guzzling hyperscale data centers. Chinese LLMs (especially DeepSeek) aren't as environmentally harmful as a ChatGPT. And needless to say, voluntary uses of AI don't fall under the umbrella of "corporations shoving down AI".
Catodon isn't a corporation, and Catodon wasn't pushed unto me, it was me who chose Catodon because it is, to me, way better than other platforms.
I'm not affiliated with Catodon, I'm saying this as an user who migrated from the slow Friendica to a Misskey fork I've since became quite fond of (and especially the ideological values of this instance, values I happen to share). Oh, does it uses LLMs for development? Then it seems like it's doing a good job, because I've been using this platform on a daily basis.
If we were to hold on to puritan worldviews, we're using a former USian military project called ARPANET which became the Internet. If you're using a computer or laptop, you're using a device whose architecture was mostly made by IBM (don't look up at what they were doing in the 1930s). Have you by any means used a vehicle? I have bad news for you. If you got to live your implied puritanism your words are suggesting, you shouldn't be using technology in the first place, don't you think?
