@wannabe_alarmist @fediverse its for groups. Mastodon doesn't support it and replaces it with a @ but if you see it it means the account is a group account and kf you mention it (from your account with an @) your post becomes a new topic in the group that it's from

I was very surprised that Shapeshifter doesn't even have its own Wikipedia page, Unsanity does: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unsanity but its rather sparse for how important for an era of Mac OS it was

How my strange upbringing intersects with @TheOnion...

I recently came across @rosyna talking about trying to bring back `haxies` and discovered that they were part of Unsanity. If you are not familiar, this is the krew who made Shapeshifter which thus enabled "Mac Theming" to flourish (@macthemes) for as long as it did. A lot of my early childhood interest in computers started by trying to figure out how get various themes installed & working. This screenshot is of Somatic by @dlanham that I rocked for a long time in the early Mac OS X Tiger era.
