I also really wouldn’t get my hopes up that it’s particularly different from GTA 5. The setting is still just realism, so they can’t change much in terms of gameplay or art style, not even the storytelling can go too far off the rails.

The graphics and world simulation will likely be more, uh, realistic, but you’d really need to get a lot of enjoyment out of fine details for that to make much of a difference…

I see a lot of people saying everyone is mad, but can’t say I have really seen many (or any), actually mad.

I have seen a lot of disappointment and indifference. From the people who had put rockstar on some pedestal it’s mostly disappointment as they can’t believe they would be that scummy. For others not hyped, its an advert.

I am a little surprised, but not shocked they would stoop to getting paid for it. But I am much closer to anti rockstar these days, and have no interest in gta6 anymore.

The extended look will also be available at 9pm ET on YouTube, but for six hours, it will essentially be paywalled behind a Netflix subscription.

Um… ok

  1. Who cares? It’s a trailer.
  2. Most of the people complaining probably already have a Netflix subscription
  3. It’s 6 hours after you’ve already waited 4 years, chill out
  4. Someone’s going to rip it after 10 minutes away
  5. Vice City was the most fun, SA broke your childhood, IV had the best story, V had heists. There’s no way VI is going to top all those, we’ll be lucky if it makes top 3.

I feel the same way too. I’ve loved GTA games and I’ve always been excited when a new one comes out. But with GTA6 the hype for me has significantly decreased. My concern now is that 6 will just be a reskin of 5 with a few extra bells and whistles added. I’m still gonna be optimistic about it but after 6 idk if I’m gonna get excited about the next one if it ever comes.

Jesus christ, Lemmy, you’re just on fire today. I’m starting to get bummed out.

So all the people who don’t care about GTA:VI - why are you in this thread? Be glad that you don’t care about something. Does every post on the site need to cater to your whims?

Ugh.

I’m looking forward to the eventual PC release - if I’m still alive (I’m on dialysis, so that’s a little up in the air). I’m looking forward to the preview or whatever they release here. Since it’ll be on youtube a few hours after the Netflix release - ermagerd guess I’ll wait a few hours. Be a couple of years before I get it on PC anyway.

So much drama that means nothing. Yeesh.

The closer we get to release the less interested I become: it fucking sucks because GTA pretty much defined me, I played every r* game (yes even the table tennis) and I’ve had a lot of fun doing it. But now… base game is $80 but if you want the full experience shell out $100, no PC release, no disc for consoles for those who wish to avoid the console ecosystem, paywalling ads, multiplayer not included (there’s a rumor we will have to shell out an additional 10-30 bucks for online). Fuck that. I knew they’d be greedy about it, after all it’s the biggest piece of entertainment in the history of entertainment but you don’t have to be a dick about it.

Okay hear me out.

This comes out on Netflix and then is on YouTube 6 hours later. 6 hours is a long fucking time on the internet. This video is going to be leaked instantly. It will be posted and shared everywhere minutes after it ends. Not just leaked but I’m sure you can go to any number of discord servers and watch somebody stream it. Rockstar doesn’t care. Netflix doesn’t care. The goal is not a pay walled advertisement.

It’s a stress test of Netflix live streaming. They need something so big yet so inconsequential to test this with. If it goes well, they can say “Hey, we tested it out, and we are capabe of streaming the Superbowl”. If it doesn’t work. Eh, just release it to YouTube, whatever.

Thats my guess at least.
