It could have at least been a fun learning experience for the developer, but instead they just wrote some text and let the computer program it.
It’s absolutely possible to learn a lot while using an AI coding assistant; it can be like having a patient and supportive Stack Overflow instead of one that just closes all your questions as duplicates. That does require using it intentionally though.
That’s not what vibecoding is. Vibecoding is literally what I said and not just it being an assistant.
I thought vibecoding was older than LLMs?
Replying to @x00z@lemmy.world
While I don’t use LLMs, IMHO unreviewed code is unreviewed code. If it’s unreviewed, that means no one has taken responsibility for it, and so it doesn’t belong in any codebase without that giant disclaimer front and center.
Edit: lol @ downvoters who “vibe-read” this comment 🤦 the toxic element of lemmy who think we can’t see who they are
Anything worth doing is worth reviewing.
It even specifically requires GPS location unlike other messagers. Boo.
Should’ve just used IP location so users could simply pick different VPN servers to simulate either a quick flap across town or a brutal multi-week transcontinental migratory path
What if it becomes the next twitter?
I mean the name is available now, isn’t it?
So… he vibe coded it, hit a bug he couldn’t fix, and said, fuck it, it’s a feature.
Hit a bug The AI couldn’t fix
Did they post the source code? That just sounds like one of us lemmings needs to unvibe code the source.
