these scene repacks do the weirdest stuff for compression. they actually decompress already compressed game data, then recompress it with a different algo. this has to be undone at unpack time, so you actually have to re-encode a whole bunch of files with random encoders from game library companies.
@mischievoustomato okay I gave the book that inspired this post to fable and told it to take the ideas and general plot, make it a 50 page short story with new characters and setting and use the style of an actually good writer, the result is indeed better.
something i feel with many modern books i start is that even if they have some good ideas, the pacing and writing isn't really good. halfway through i'd rather read a synopsis on wikipedia.
the new rightoid sloptopic is this guy, who was EXPOSED!!! what as exposed? that he was lying about every part of his biography? no, that was obvious, being "my uncle works at nintendo and they have mario 128 already" level lies.
was it because he was racebaiting DEI hire being paid by taxpayer money while producing nouvelle woke agitprop with zero calorie content? no, everybody loved that about him!
the issue was... he didn't write it all by himself... that's the scandal. otherwise, this guy was A-OK. and the sleepy commentariat just continue in its usual non-threatening way, only going after people once their enemy has decided, by some arbitrary rule, that they are now fair game.
