My daughter (biologist) advises her undergrad students that if they want to use AI they should only use it for drawing diagrams.

In the light of the recent revelation that AI can produce near-identical output for multiple people, even that seems risky for published papers if you want to be sure you’re safe from plagiarism accusations.
